At church the other day we were talking about passions, and one of the examples was a passion to gain world peace and what actions might be taken in order to obtain it.
One of the suggestions really caught my attention: to gather all the criminals and drop an atom bomb on them. Automatically my thoughts were rounded on how much I disagreed. You see here's how I veiw it: if we drop an atom bomb on all of the criminals it doesn't neccesarily mean that crime is going to stop. All that we'll be telling anyone is that humans are the one's passing righteous judgement and killing all that are bad leaving only the good and honest. However the only reason that people would stop crime for awhile is because of their fear of death.
However that's just what would cause crime to happen again. Someone's going to realize that death is inevitable so there is no reason to fear the human law anymore. No one's going to be afraid because they know that either way, Death is going to happen.
That's just my opinion of course.

Feel like i've been on a merry-go-round. round and round your argument goes. :-)
i believe you're saying that world peace is an illusion - that even if all criminals are killed, the ones killing the criminals are killers themselves. u also elude to the fact that eventually people will realize that death is inevitable and going to happen one way or another (thus they won't fear death penalties and commit crimes anyway). did i understand you correctly??
just curious. fun blog.
